What is a Forever Home?

We often refer to a home as the place we live, and that is technically correct. Right? If we expand a little bit more on the term, whether you live in a house, apartment, or any other physical place, home is a place where you feel safe, loved, and at peace, and it can be with yourself, your family, or just your plants or pets.

Now, what we call a forever home is a mix of the place you live in and the concept of a home.

For us, a Forever Home is the place, usually owned, where you can imagine living for a very long time with your loved ones, a physical place that becomes a home, and it adapts and evolves with you and your loved ones (the opposite of what some call a starter home). A family home, where you and your family are rooted in, with the community, the history of the place, or a place where you decide to retire.

This concept is very close to my heart, since I grew up in a forever home and later in life created one of my own with my husband and kids.

I lived in the same house since I was born, and I left about 24 years later when I got married… And my parents still live there! Since this was my experience growing up, it’s the experience I know, the reference and bar I had for my own future. My family home is where I literally grew up, and the magic of having a constant place, no matter how busy life got, was and is something I really appreciate, and it shaped my professional life later on.

When I decided to become an Interior Designer, I knew my ultimate goal was to help other people have the wonderful experience I had with my forever homes. Even though Reecca Castillo Interiors not only focuses on forever homes, these projects have a special place in my heart, and they also have an additional layer of knowing that that place will be the home where they raise their children, or have family gatherings, or simply will be the place that will bring them peace is these busy times.

Did you grow up or live in a forever home? Would love to read your experience!
